Day 1: Traveling Red Service DayNighter Seat or Red Service Sleeper. Board The Ghan at Adelaide’s Parklands Terminal to depart at 12.20 pm and travel north towards Spencer Gulf, Port Augusta and the stunning Flinders Ranges. Day 2: Arriving in Alice Springs (the Red Centre) on the following day at 1.45 pm, you’ll have plenty of time to look around the town or join an organized tour before reboarding The Ghan departing at 6.00 pm. Enjoy the scenery as you watch a desert sunset as you continue your journey North overnight. Day 3: Arrive in Katherine bright and early and embark on the beginnings of your Top End Highlights. Depart from The Ghan at 9.00 am to join a boat cruise at the outstanding and spectacular Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge followed by a memorable visit to Mataranka. Territory Manor being first on the list of attractions - see the Barramundi fish feeding at the billabong. Then on to Mataranka Homestead to visit the magical Thermal Pool (constant 34C) in time for a quick swim (it is said to have therapeutic powers). We then visit Elsey Homestead Replica, this was built when filming “We of the Never Never”. This day ends around 5.30 pm in Katherine. Your evening is at leisure, but there are exciting options available. Day 4: Depart Katherine at 7:00am for an exciting 2 days in Kakadu. We approach via the Southern End through Mary River. Next is Waterfall Creek (Gunlom), a deep permanent pool fringed by Pandanus palms and high cliffs. We then go to Cooinda, home of Yellow Water Cruises. Enjoy the variety of birds, wildlife and crocodiles on a sunset cruise. Day 5: Depart at 6:30am for Nourlangie Rock, just magic at this time of the morning. Today will create long lasting memories of Kakadu for you, including Ubirr, Bowali Visitor Centre, Border Store, East Alligator and so much more........ Arrive Darwin Approximately 5:00pm.
